Mini Rimmel Haul

Rimmel Haul & Swatches

In my recent youtube haul I showed some new products I picked up from Rimmel & as promised here are the swatches.

Rimmel Apocalips Big Bang                                                   Rimmel Apocalips Nova

When I saw Lily Collins on the cover of Glamour I was desperate to find a similar red and I think "Big Bang" is the perfect colour, With a subtle hint of pink this red is exactly what I was looking for.

And as I am not one to pass on a bargain, I picked this second colour up as it was "buy one get one half price" This rose pink is the perfect summer colour!

Moving on....

If you saw my nail tutorial you would have seen me apply these mint coloured fake nails and I love this colour, so when I was in boots I check out every brand to find this shade, Barry M and Max Factor have a pretty close dupe but I had to go with Rimmel and I think it worked out really well.

I painted my middle finger with this Peppermint shade and though it is a little darker its a pretty good match, little tip use a lighter top coat if you want it to be a perfect match.

and once again it was "buy one get one half price" so I picked up the new Flex mascara, both Rimmel and Maybelline have create this coat by coat smooth finish mascara. Apparently you can keep applying this mascara without drying out your lashes I have yet to try it out.

....anyone else think this looks like the rather famous Benefit mascara wand???

Fat Vs Curvy

In my recent video I talked about body image. I spoke about my own negative body image and the research I have done on the subject but one thing that I said has got some people pretty annoyed.

I don't like the word "fat" to describe someones weight.

We all have fat on our bodies, we can't live without fat storage, so at what point do you decide that that fat is noteworthy. At what point does someone become so called "fat" I don't think its a healthy word to use to describe someone.

I have been called "Fat" and it sticks with you, doesn't matter how much weight I lose, I can still hear - "You're fat"
Once you get told you're fat it's hard to find the right balance, its hard to see when you aren't fat any more or when you may have taken your obsession to not be fat too far.

Fat is a dangerous word to use to describe someone, one persons idea of fat might be very different to another person that is why I do not use it.

We should love ourselves regardless of size, weight or height.
Be healthy, and be happy,

much love, Sineady x

June Photo A Day Challenge

A moment...

Life is made up of lots of little moments
and a single moment with the ones we love are always the most wonderful.

This is me and Sandy, I got her for my birthday when I was 10 years old.
Sandy died in December not long after my birthday last year. I still feel her here. At night I might feel a little weight on my leg, she would always lean against my legs at night to sleep, I would hear paws running across the kitchen floor and remember her, or hear a dog bark next door and imagine her reply. Though this is my mind playing tricks on me, I still enjoy those little moments I hold on to them because they are all I have.

See you all tomorrow, either on here or on twitter or instagram or facebook!

June Photo A Day Challenge

I have always wanted to do a challenge but I never remember,
luckily Nina posted this on facebook this morning!
Thanks Nina!

B is for...

I'm moving to Manchester on Tuesday!
Scared but excited to get back to living with my boyfriend, I've missed him!
I moved home to help my mom, I don't really want to discuss what she needed me for but I am finding it hard to leave, she is basically forcing me to live my own life and get out.
My mom does so much and I wish I could just stay and help more.

My biggest tip for moving: List everything that you put in each box on a piece of paper, either stick it to the side or to the inside lid so you always know what it in there.

See you all tomorrow, either on here or on twitter or instagram or facebook!

Honestly...

If I was truly honest with myself I would want to
look less like me and more like that!

I want:
A smaller nose
A thinner face
A shorter forehead
Large lips
Biggers eyes
Darker skin
Thicker hair
and that's just my face don't get me started on my body!!

I have no idea why I feel the need to change the things I do,
Why don't I want smaller eyes or thinner lips, Who knows!

We all see beauty differently, We all think different things are beautiful but it doesn't matter what we think is beautiful as long as we look in the mirror and find beauty in ourselves.

Sure I would want to look like that, But I look like me and that's okay too.

Remember to find beauty in yourself,
                                                             Sinead.

Spring Nail!

I like to start with a light sheer colour on my nails to begin with
and I love Oxygen By China Glaze.
I apply a really light sheer coat before I apply my colour.

Colour:
Two of my favourite colours at the moment -

"Rose Libertine" By Rimmel                         "How do you lilac it" By Rimmel

As much as I love these shade  I ♡ them even more
When I apply Innocence by China Glaze
over the top!

Which got me thinking, do you layer your polishes to create your own unique shade??
and if you had

to give your shade a name what would you call it??

Corrective Colours

Corrective Colours

Correctors are used to counteract or neutralise tones found in the skin so foundation and concealer can work better.

Lilac/Lavender

If you suffer from yellowing under the eyes, or your tan/warm skin is looking dull and grey, try a lilac primer or concealer. It brighten and evens your skin.

Green & Yellow Counteracts - Red/Pink

If you suffer from rosacea or reddish skin try green or yellow concealer or primer, it will counteract the red tone in the skin.
If you have cool skin tone try green or you have warmer skin tone try the yellow.

Peach/Pink/Orange Correctors

Peach/Pink/Orange concealer brighten grey/purple/blue/green/dark under eye circles but keep in mind once you apply the corrector you may need to go back over the area with a foundation or concealer that matches your skin to ensure it blends out evenly.

Light Pink for pale Skin
Peach for Medium Skin
Orange for Dark Skin

Britney Spears in The Makeup Chair

How I would do it...

I would love to do Britney's makeup,
and this is how I would do it...

On the left how Britney's makeup is done,
On the right how I would do her makeup.

With a little help from photo shop I add some makeup!

Britney suffers from break outs and oily skin,
I would start with Smashbox Photo Finish Light
(after using a cleanse, toner and moisturiser of course)

Her under eyes looked a little grey, I used a peach concealer to counteract that.

Taking a lighter shade of foundation I highlight the skin under the eyes, chin and forehead and then use a foundation shade that matches her neck to help even her skin.

With Britney going from blonde to brown her brows need to also change, I used a warm brown eyebrow pencil to define them.

I picked a lighter peachy/pink blush for Britney's cheeks. Britney already has strong red colours in her skin so a peachy/pink would neutralise that.

Finally for lipstick I blended the lip liner more and added a sheer pink lipstick! Done!

Which celebrities makeup would you like to do or redo??

Finally Finished Foundation Series!

Flawless Foundation For Beginners!

Step One: Cleanse
Pink Grapefruit Face Wash.
Make sure your make-up is going on fresh skin, this will make sure it goes on smoother and lasts longer!

Step Two: Tone
Simple facial toner.
A toner is just a liquid similar to water that rinses off any left over cleanser or dirt. Wipe it over the skin on a cotton pad!

Step Three: Moisturise
Moisturise Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser
Moisturise actually gives your foundation something to hold on so its very important!

Make sure you leave your skin settle for at least 5 minutes once you have completed these steps!

Step Four: Primer
Primer Nivea Daily Essentials Hydration Primer Normal/Comb
Not everyone needs a primer, but if you are going to use one, you apply it after your Moisturiser, not before your moisturiser and not instead of your moisturiser, after your moisturiser, Yep! :)

Step Five: Foundation
Foundation Loreal True Match W1
                 Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect
I mixed up two foundations to get my prefect tone, texture and shade. It takes a lot of trial and error to find that out but when you do you wont forget it!

I use my F20 brush to apply it http://www.blankcanvascosmetics.com/products/hot-pink-and-black-f20-duo-set.html

You don't need a brush or sponge or any type of tool, feel free to use your finger tips, I like to pat in the foundation because it gives great coverage and looks great, I think its the heat from your fingers blends it so well!

And we're done!

Buying Foundation Online

So You Wanna Buy A Foundation Online
But You Have No Idea What Shade To Pick????

Here is what I do....

Let's say I want to get the "NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation"
and I need to work out the right shade for me,

Step 1:
Look for Swatches online -

Here is a swatch of the NYX foundation in Sand Beige (Thanks to Nina's page)

Step 2:

Search for a foundation swatch you already use -

Here is a swatch of an ELF foundation I already own,
I use shade "Sand"

Step 3:

Compare foundation swatches

You can see how the Elf "Sand" and NYX "Sand Beige" swatches are similar.

DONE!!

How to Pack Smart for a Trip

How to Pack Smart for a Trip

Small (Bra/Undies)

Keep everything natural nude so it will work under all clothes,
Even if you have a white top it's always best to wear a nude bra as it's less likely to be seen.

Multiway bras are always super handy to pack!

Clothes

Pick a colour scheme and stick to it.

Pick items that all match so you can vary your outfit without over packing,

I stick to these rules:
Black                or           Brown
Red               or           Pink

I never pick a brown top if I pack black shoe, or a red top with a pink jacket

My colour scheme is usually
Blacks,
Greys,
and a pop of colour usually Pink or Red.
But hey that's just me!
