2012/2013

When 2012 started I was in a pretty good place in my life, lived with my lovely boyfriend John, had a great apartment in Cork city, great friends, happy family, everything I could have asked for.

I look at myself here and it makes me said,
I was so happy back then I want that feeling back.

I didn't think that the year was going to slowly go down hill. I tried to stay positive but I lost so much of that happiness. I still tried to hold on to as much as I could, even with everything changing around me and in 2012 I realised -
I DO NOT DO CHANGE!
I hate anything changing, something I never really thought to much but too much has changed now and I do not like it! Not one bit!

So when everything fell apart in my life on the 20 of December 2012 I think I had finally had enough and had given up on holding on to the life I once had and instead of watching change, I was going to make changes instead, Its time to take back some control in my life!

So I made a list, which come to think of it, it's kind of like a New Year's resolutions list but I am not just doing this because it's a new year I have to do it now.

  • Take a break from youtube videos. This is more because I am still so upset about my dog passing away that I can't face filming, she was always with me when I did and even going into my filming room scares me.
  • Learn to drive. Gonna be a surprise for some people to know that I don't drive, I hate driving and in the city it wasn't a big deal but now I need to learn to drive. I can drive but I hate it!
  • Get into shape. I am tired of feeling crappy about my shape and I want to get super fit!
  • Create better videos. I really hate how bad my videos are. Bugs me.
  • Look into getting laser eye surgery. I really hope I can get my eyes fixed, I don't like wearing my glasses. Especially when I'm driving.
  • Spend time with Sarah. I don't get to see Sarah (makeupbysaz) much and I really miss her! I hope I get to see my other guru girlie soon too.
  • Learn to find my way around London. London scares me, its not like the North (North of England) you can turn around and ask for help but in London if you hesitate you get push! Learnt that the hard way!
  • Do some thing fun every day!

Do you have anything that you want to change, do you want to take control???
I would love to hear your thoughts!

Best wishes! Sinead x

  3. Personally, Sinéad, I adore your YouTube videos so much that I'm going to start making my own. So my new years resolution is to start a YouTube channel, and stick at it.
Thanks for being an inspiration <3

  4. Good post.

I think you do great videos on YT! I love the way you edit the videos :)

I know what it's like to loose a doggie :) I had a labador growing up when I was 16 I was away from home when I came back my mom told me she had George put down. She told me this over the phone. I remember shaking and just bursting into tears.

They really do make such an impact on our lives, mad isn't it?

I hope you feel a tad bit better soon X

  5. Your goals are very achievable :) it's just a matter of perseverance. My goals this year also include getting in shape and creating better content for my blog, but also investing time in starting my career. I think i'll be moving my personal life to the side this time. Wish you luck with your goals! And make sure you know that you have a good influence on your readers and your viewers (including myself) and that most of them are there for you in your time of need. So take your time to heal properly, get used to your new life, to your surroundings, achieve your goals and then come back. Hugs!

  6. Oh wow I never realised you were unhappy :(
I really hope you will become as happy as you used to be, in 2013! The goals are very achievable, if you think you need a break, it's very sensible to do so. (Although I have to say I do not agree with you on the quality of your vids, they are amazing!)

Good luck! I hope you'll learn this year to listen to your heart a bit more and do the things YOU want to do :)

(I hope this all makes sense, since I'm not a native speaker)

  7. I'm so sorry to hear that your dog passed away. My dog, who was the first dog I ever had seen to grow up (and been a part of bringing him up) from puppy to grown dog, died (we had to put him asleep, the hardest thing I've ever had to decide) two years ago and for two months after his death I cried every day. I still miss him so much, we also had a puppy (whos a grown dog now) and he has brought great joy to me too. I still think about my other dog every now and then and look at the pictures and miss him, but him and all the other pets who I've lost during my life and also people.

I'm like you, I hate change, because that means I don't know the outcome, and that makes me nervous, but lots of times everything goes well. I'm sure you'll get used to London and everything will be OK. And also I love your YT videos, so when ever you'll be back filming and posting, know that there are people who are happy that you're back then :)!

All the best for the future and I hope that the future holds lots of happiness for you!

  11. I'm so sorry about your sweet baby, Sandy. I understand how you must feel. I don't know what I would do if my little Sara (my dog) left this world. I hope you're doing better and please try your best to complete everything off this list! They're great resolutions and I know you're on the path to a happier life!

  12. Depression is a hard thing to deal with - especially when you lose someone (a pet) that you loved so very much.

I blogged about my blogging new years resolutions - I don't really have any personal ones cause I always fall behind on them heh.

One of my goals is to build more friendships with other bloggers and vloggers - its such an awesome community =)

  13. Bonne Annee!
I hope 2013 brings everything you wish for and more!
This year, my NY resolution is to be less self-centered and to do more things for/with other people (including tidying up the house...;)
I must say that you are a personal favourite of mine on YT, I do like the feel of your video, and it really shows that you care about what you do.
Take your time, look after yourself, enjoy the BIG city...

  15. Sinead, take as much time off from youtube as you need. I've figured out that your dog passing away really must be killing you. I know the feeling and it's been over 5 years now. I wish I could say it got any easier- it didn't. I believe I just got used to pain.

You seem to be in a pretty good shape- you want your body to be more toned?

I need to do hula-hoop again.

Go for driving lessons and try to see it as fun- I enjoy it ;) a lot!

And change... I have issues with changes and lack of them...

  17. Hi Sinead,

I just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos on yt, they have taught me many useful tips about applying my make-up (like the one about using concealer on the eyelid to make eye shadow last longer) and now I feel a lot more confident about wearing it and trying new things.

In 2012, I had a few crappy things happen to me as well and so my new year resolutions are like yours :

    1) Less time at work and more time with friends
    2) Tone the bits that wobble too much!

Wishing you all the best and all the happiness in the world, may all your resolutions comes true!

    xx

  18. I really appreciate your videos and how informative they are while still being brief. I appreciate how well they are put together - I'll be excited to see how you improve on this since they are already well done.
In that regard I wanted to ask, what video editing software do you use and how do you add the picture and picture videos? I'm a you tuber myself and I would love to add that feature to my own videos. (madebyejp)

I look forward to the new year. Thank you for your hard work and inspiration. You have taught me the right way to apply make up, finally!

    Happy subscriber,

  21. heey! i m new here :) just wish to reach ur dreams (for first time in my life i have new year resolutions too) xD hhh.. see ya!

  22. My resolution (as always) is to live each day as if it is my last. That does not mean I go and do stuff like sky diving or spending all my money every day, but I try to do the things I want to do ASAP, and not have a 'some day'-list. Besides that I try to be mindful about small mundane things I enjoy, and not take them for granted.

And as far as change is concerned; Sinead you ARE change, and your life IS change. And you really wouldn't want it any other way. In 2012 you changed my life by teaching me how to do my make-up (finally took an interest, at 43, about time ;-) by being a great (and fun) teacher with lots of inspiring and informative video's (seriously, what is wrong with them??). Thank you!

  23. Just want to say that your videos don't suck! you have helped me alot with makeup. The techniques you use are very very helpful. Also, you are a genuine person in front of the camara I just can tell. Hope you have an amazing 2013. This past year was not a good one for me but I'm expecting this year to be a change, a good change. Hope you have the best year so far! Thank you for what you do, and who you are!

  26. Hello doll! I am a new subscriber to your blog, you tube & Facebook pages. First of all I'd like to say that I'm very sorry for the loss of your pet and for all the changes that are occurring in your life. Change is never easy but it is a learning process and I truly believe that when change does happen it is because its time for a new phase in your life and to have new experiences. I Hope to see you back on You Tube doing more tutorials, I started watching them last night and I gotta say you have inspired me to go back into being a makeup artist, I had lost the drive and got burned out from it. YOU are an inspiration so please know YOU also make people lives change by doing what YOU do in a very positive way. Thank you for That. Sending you love & light.. xoxo

  27. I totally get where you are coming from. Things were great for me but then turned for the worse. Thank goodness I have my amazing fiancé to help me get through things. I feel kind of a wreck right now, everything seems to be going wrong even when I try. But, I wake up every morning and I am breathing, life being so short I can't help but smile even when it is forced. Sometimes it is just hard but I manage. I am very headstrong but just sort of fell into a rut. I feel like nobody in the world notices me, things are just icky and it all sucks. But a positive attitude will help me overcome any obstacle in life. :)I stumbled upon your makeup videos and you are quite good. They made me feel better at least. Especially feeling like I know little to nothing. They were a little boost, so thank you for those. My biggest help is when I get to feeling like this and I need to make a change is I did what you did, I take a deep breath and look at everything happening in my life, what I like and don't like. I keep myself positive and always, always, tell myself that I am stronger than anything trying to bring me down. I stay strong and stay me. And then, I don't feel so bad. :) So, good luck with your life changes, I wish you the best Sinead, always remember to stay strong and to stay you. Signed Kelsea, truly inspired. :)

  28. Hi Sinead,

I'm following you on Facebook put somehow I can't comment on your posts :-( so I'm not able to share anything with you... :-(

I wish you all the best for 2013 and all the other years. I've lost my grandmother 2 years ago and I know it's hard to realize life just goes on and things keep changing... I don't like changed either but we should try to make the best of it every day! And your videos are great. You can't imagine how you've helped so many people! ;-)

Take care and I hope I can comment on your posts on FB.

  29. Good for you for taking control of your life again, Sinead! Good luck with your list, everything looks doable and I'm sure you'll have fun making those changes in your life :)

Last year was horrible for me. My husband at the time decided we needed a divorce after almost 4 years of being together. I would say I stayed depressed for a good portion of the year, but towards the end of the year, I finally decided I'd had enough of waiting around for him to miraculously change his mind and heart and come back to me. I can see now that he was not the best man for me, and in a way, the ending of our relationship made me a stronger and more confident person. I am taking back control of my life and my happiness. I haven't written down a list of things I want to accomplish this year, but whatever I do now, I have one rule for myself: to have fun and enjoy myself to the fullest. Let's make 2013 a great year, Sinead! :)

  32. Hope everything will be better for you! I love your videos and they are not crappy at all! you are one of my favourite youtubers seriously. You are informative, you buy products that you actually like, you buy things on a budget, you do videos that no one else does, you don't follow the mainstream beauty guru videos, and you don't always do hauls (which i find unnecessary). And take as much breaks you want from youtube! Health first!

  33. I am so thankful for finding your blog! I recently started a company here in the United States called Love Me Recovery. I will soon start making my own makeup. I desperately needed help with how to best apply makeup and just general tips. I watched a few of your videos and they were easy to follow and inspiring. I recently had a huge change in my life as well. My son is 16 and was diagnosed with schizophrenia one month ago. I had to quit my job and stay home. I am hopeful that I can make makeup that is natural and inspires women to recover from whatever is going on in their lives and wear makeup to feel beautiful inside and out. I look forward to following your blog!

  34. Bestthing I ever did for my self image was the laser eye surger - gave me so much more confidence and I love wearing fun sunglasses! I recommend the laser for anyone and every one whoo is frustrated with glasses and not comfortable in contacts.

Now... I just need to get to the gym to work on the rest of my perceived flaws :-)
